Change in Legislation: Martyn's Law

Martyns Law face to face healthcare training

  • The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025.  More commonly known as Martyn's law.

  • Named after Martyn Hett. A victim of the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing.

  • This 

    law will become fully operational by 2027 and is regulated by the Security Industry Authority.


Who does it apply to?

  • Places and events where members of the public have access. 

  • Standard tier applies to areas with a capacity of 200-799 people.

  • Enhanced tier applies to areas with a capacity of 800+ people. 

  • However, schools and places of worship will need to follow the standard tier. Irrespective of capacity.

  • The law sets to improve public safety. Ensuring venues and event planners are prepared to deal with the threat of terrorism.

  • The new legislation forces accountability on to businesses/event planners to protect their workforce and clients.
